Dr. Jacknin was traditionally trained and went to undergraduate engineering school, medical school, medical internship, and dermatology residency at the Medical College of Virginia and the University of Virginia.
She practiced conventional general dermatology in Pensacola, Florida for a number of years before becoming interested in holistic dermatology.
Board-certified and licensed in the state of Arizona, she has written the only comprehensive book on both allopathic and naturopathic skin care therapies, published by Penguin Putnam in 2001, now available at www.drjacknin.com and contributed the first 3 chapters to Dr. Andy Weil’s textbook of Integrative Medicine published in 2014.
She launched her effective botanical anti-aging skin care line in 2009, writes articles for the lay and professional press, and over the past 8 years has spoken at more than 45 national conferences on anti-aging, beauty and natural ingredients, has given talks to 4 Dermatology Departments and has spoken at 9 international conferences on hemp and CBD in skin care.
Dr. Jacknin became interested in hemp, CBD, and cannabis topically and in beauty and skin care in 2016. She contributed in August and Sept blogs to Natural Product Insider on hemp and CBD topically, in beauty and skin care. She spoke at the Sept 2016 Cannabis World Conference and Business Expo in Los Angles, California and at the World Anti-Aging Academy of Medicine (A4M) in Las Vegas in December 2016 on the science behind the topical use of hemp, cannabinoids, and THC for beauty, atopic dermatitis and psoriasis, and tumors. She spoke on the difference between hemp and marijuana at the Las Vegas MJBiz Con in Nov 2017, and on topical CBD in beauty and skin care at the HAPPI conference in NJ in Nov 2017, and the annual American Academy of Dermatology in 2018. This was the first talk on topical cannabinoids in skin care to a national dermatologist audience. After the talk, she was interviewed by the AAD Dialogues in Dermatology, MJBiz Daily, Healthline, Health Daily, and Elsevier’s Practice Update.
Dr. Jacknin spoke at the April 2018 World Cannabis Convention in Pittsburgh, PA. and June 2018 O’Cannabiz conference in Toronto, Canada on the topic of hemp and cannabinoids in beauty and skin care and the studies which support it. She spoke at the national PainWeek conference in Las Vegas in Sept 2018 on topical cannabis for painful dermatoses. She spoke again in Portland at the Medical Cannabis Conference at the National University of Naturopathic medicine (NUNM) in Sept 2018. She spoke in Detroit at the Michigan Dermatology Society and in San Diego at the AARM conference and Integrative Dermatology conferences in 2019. A technical scientific poster was presented at Canna-Pharma in Nov 2019. Dr. Jacknin spoke on CBD and skin disorders, cannabis and pain, and cannabinoids and women’s wellness in 2020 on https://cbdtrainingacademy.com and plans another talk on different cannabinoids in Dec 2020. Dr. Jacknin also spoke at 3 virtual conferences in 2020: Plant Expo, CannX- Tel Aviv and Supply Side West.
